User Guide — Introduction
This guide explains the thinking behind SkyWalking V2 and how to use it, feature by feature. If anything remains unclear after reading, please don't hesitate to contact us — we provide support by email.
The App's Design Philosophy — Maps and Records Are Lifelines
In the mountains, your map and your track record are lifelines. Losing your map when you are out of signal range, or losing a recorded track, translates directly into the risk of getting lost. SkyWalking V2 is designed with this premise in mind.
The app never automatically deletes your downloaded offline maps or your saved GPX files. The app will not silently remove data to free up space, because of an expiry date, or for any other reason. Data is deleted only when you delete it yourself.
In addition, your recorded GPS tracks and settings are stored only on your device and are never sent to the developer's servers. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Important Notes
- Location data is an estimate. The positions, elevations and distances the app displays and records are estimates based on GPS and similar positioning technologies. Terrain, weather and device conditions can introduce errors.
- Watch your battery. Continuous GPS use drains the battery. For long days in the mountains, we recommend carrying a power bank and recording with the screen off.
- Never operate the app while walking or cycling. Using the app while walking, running or riding a bicycle is dangerous anywhere. Stop before you interact with the screen.
- This app is not a substitute for a paper map and compass. Safety in the mountains — checking the weather, preparing equipment, and planning within your abilities — is your own responsibility. The app does not guarantee flawless operation; please use it at your own risk.
- Please do not contact the map data providers. The app uses data provided by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) and others, but has no affiliation with them. For questions about the app, please contact the developer.
